Jing Roars Like a Lion!

It didn't used to. When Apple gave us their first preview of OS X 10.7, code named Lion, Jing rolled over and played dead. In fact, all of TechSmith's screen recording software tools choked on the new OS. This wasn't good. Our development teams went into hyperdrive and came up with a new way to capture screen video on Macs and the updated versions of our products released today are testaments to the agility of our development organization as a whole. For Jing specifically, this release also marks Continue reading

Hidden Library

With "Screencast.com's recent Library redesign":http://blog.screencast.com/2011/04/try-the-new-beta-features-and.html comes a particularly interesting enhancement that many may have missed. In the old design, you could upload anything to your Library. Some people might have a bunch of loose content that wasn't in any true folder. Further, this content is "Public" - meaning anyone that knows your display name can see your Library. Take a look at my public offerings at "http://www.screencast.com/users/d.frazier":http://www.screencast.com/users/d.frazier Continue reading

After all, we are part of the TechSmith family - and TechSmith is helping to drive the revolution that's happening in the education world today. Our products are the tools that students and teachers use to create Continue reading

Knock Knock…Who’s There?

As educational institutions move toward more online instruction and testing/certification, ensuring the identity of the student doing the work is a problem that the entire industry is interested in solving. Many solutions exist to test the identity of students prior to taking exams or submitting coursework online. These solutions range from not doing Continue reading

It’s About Time…

Hi there - Dirk here with what will hopefully be a quick post about everyone's favorite topic - Time. We never have enough time to get what we want done. There's only 24 hours in a day. The typical work day is eight hours, though some work more and some less. When you create an instructional or tutorial video, you want to get your point across in as little time as possible because it's hard to hold someone's attention for more than a few minutes - especially with online video. The temptation Continue reading

What’s New with Jing

The Jing team has been hard at work adding three more improvements to Jing--proxy support, SFTP, and audio device selection. The first two are targeted at our corporate and education users. If you've ever tried to use Jing behind a proxy...well, notsomuch huh? We now try to autodetect the proxy settings and allow for manual settings with authenticated proxy support. We hope everyone appreciates the new way you can select your audio device from within Jing. No more messing around with the default Continue reading
