Following on the heels of the TechSmith anniversary, John Canady, a past participant of TechSmith’s Technical Preview Program*, shared the anniversary video he created with Camtasia Studio 8.
“I decided to create this video when we were asked to create a project based on our grandparent’s honeymoon for the Technical Preview Program,” said John. “My wife and I have taken photos of ourselves on our anniversary every year, so I decided to show our life together instead.”
John and his wife started with only a camera, each taking a photo of the other in front of the church where they were married. Shortly thereafter, they bought a better camera and a tripod and have continued the annual photo tradition ever since. Even when they are out of town, John and his wife take photos in front of local churches and add it to their collection.
With the latest photos in hand, John created his Camtasia project with a focus on sharing the story of their marriage. He sought out a background that reminded him of a family trip to Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur and music that reflected their interests. Both the background and the music were free and under public domain (links included at the end of the video).
John added some neat effects and did a great job walking viewers through his personal story. He suggests those looking to create similar projects include video footage to liven up the presentation. John also noted that the goal is to capture the moment to reflect on oneself years down the road.
“There are lots of options when making your own video,” said John. “But for us, we’ll keep taking photos each year and adding to our video as the story continues to unfold.”
