An Interview with Rob:

What are some things we should look forward to in your presentation?
What we really want to talk about is how easy Camtasia Relay is. Not only to use, but to get started with. We hear a lot of customers talk about all these long evaluation processes and reality is, with Camtasia Relay you can buy, install, and start using it today. User training is next to nothing and administrator standpoint is good. And it’s relatively inexpensive.

I directly talk to customers and prospective customers to find out their feedback about what we’re doing right and what more we should be changing. I try to participate in sales calls and demos to hear what non-customers have to say. So I’ll be talking about all of those things and how they’re executed.

How does Camtasia Relay help educators and students?
Camtasia Relay is designed to help teachers help their students. We make it easier for educators to record anything they want to communicate with students, which can range from a lecture to a specific tutorial on a topic the students aren’t comprehending. Camtasia Relay could work in a hybrid, online, or flipped class. So we make it as easy as possible to capture what you’re teaching so students can go back and refer to the materials as often as they need to.

What do our current customers have to say about Camtasia Relay?
As I said before, I directly talk to customers and prospective customers to figure out what we’re doing right and what we should be improving on. One customer recently told me “Don’t mess with it because it’s so easy the way it is right now.” A college instructor said “With the exception of PowerPoint, nothing has changed the way I teach except for Camtasia Relay.”

What are some exciting things you’re working on right now that we should know about?
I’m always working on exciting things! (laughs)

Windows 8 is coming out soon so we’ll be working on a few things that we have to update with Relay to make sure we support it. We’ve got a few features we’re adding in that will help ensure that instructors are successful in their recordings. We’re also looking at additional places they can publish their videos when they’re done.

And most importantly, we’re giving away a free year of hosted Relay in the near future. So look out for that!
