TCEA Convention and Digital Learning Day

Next week several TechSmithies will be traveling to Austin, Texas where TechSmith is exhibiting at TCEA 2013, a convention for tech-loving and tech-learning educators. The convention brings together campus and district-level educators for a networking and learning experience that stimulates growth and innovation. Passionate teachers, campus and district leaders gather at this annual event to share the latest trends and best practices for creating engaging classrooms that excite today’s active and inspired learners. If you or anyone you know is attending, please be sure to stop by and visit us at Booth #1146! We will have Academic Account Manager Sam Curcuruto (@SRC_Code) at the booth along with Jill Rinckey (@jmr0404) and myself, Renee Badra (@badrar). Just tweet any of us if you want to meet up or need help finding the booth!

Celebrate Digital Learning Day – February 6

It just so happens that Digital Learning Day falls next Wednesday Feb 6th, conveniently during TCEA! We are proud to say that we are partnering with the Michigan Department of Education to bring Digital Learning Day 2013 to you. To learn more about Digital Learning Day and TechSmith’s involvement, read our blog post here. To see a constant feed of news, follow #DLDay on Twitter.
If you are not familiar with digital learning or don’t know where to start, we want to help! Digital learning is simple…it is effective use of technology to enhance learning. To get you going, we have an easy (and fun!) activity on our website. In this practice activity, you will record a quick video of your computer screen using a free program called Jing. Jing is a ready-at-hand tool that lets you quickly capture images or record videos that you can use almost anywhere. If you want help, feel free to stop by and visit us at our TCEA booth anytime during the week and we would be glad to assist you in completing the activity!

The Prize!

Share your activity with us and you will receive:

  • An official Digital Learning Day Certificate of Participation
  • Lessons on creating purposeful videos for your classroom
  • A code for educators to own Snagit for a mere $9.95 (regularly $30)! (you must provide your .edu email address to be eligible)

Not Tech Savvy? Not a Problem!

We’ve put together a Digital Learning Toolkit of programs and applications that you can play around with to get you started and thinking about how you can use these with your class – or even have your students use them! If you have any questions about using technology in the classroom, please visit us at the booth at TCEA or any of our other shows in 2013. You can also tweet us @techsmithEDU, visit us on Facebook, Pinterest, or email our academic team. We want to hear your ideas, questions, pain points, and anything else you want to discuss!
