Remove a ColorGreen Screen a.k.a Remove a Color
You can now use TechSmith’s Remove a Color feature to superimpose yourself into your videos, making it appear as though you’re right in the action. Also known as chroma key or the green screen effect, Remove a Color helps you create more professional videos without having to be a video pro.

Crop, Stitch, and Copy
Use the crop tool to show your viewers exactly what you want them to see and nothing you don’t. Stitch clips together to avoid having to reapply visual properties multiple times. Where can I get one of those green screens in the tutorial/promo video?

Great news. Was on my wishlist for Camtasia 9. Glad to find it already in 8.1. Hope to see this feature soon in the german version.
From me a A+ for Techmith (and not only for Camtasia). :-)

Hi Sche – We decided to deliver all that goodness as a free update…not sure what got into us. ;) We’re currently targeting fall 2013 for the German localized version of Camtasia Studio 8.1.

      Thanks for using Camtasia!

Good blog post and great video to go along with it. Most of our post production is done with Final Cut, and Premier. But seeing software that looks as user friendly as this, makes me want to give the trial a go ahead. :) Great Post.

Thanks for the compliment! We aim for the sweet spot between “I can do everything imaginable…should I want to” and “I can get stuff done with this.” Please do let us know what you think of the trial (which is 100% of the product with no gotchas for 30 days)…we thrive on feedback.

There is a problem with this upgrade. If I use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + X to cut out a segment, Camtasia no longer creates a stopping point for me to go go back to when I use the previous clip arrow. Here are the steps that I perform when editing.

    1. I want to remove a part of my recording. I will position the playhead at the beginning of the piece that I want to remove.
    2. Click, hold and drag the red square of the playhead (right side) to the end of the portion that I want to remove.
    3. Press CTRL + X on my keyboard. This will cut out the portion of the recording that I don’t want.

Prior to the 8.1 upgrade, Camtasia would place a small icon at the end of the segment that I just cut out, but in this upgrade, there is no icon. However, the main problem is when I press the Previous Clip button to go to the beginning of the clip that I just edited, I will not recognize the new clip.

I hope that I am somewhat clear on what the problem is. Please advise.

      Hey there,

Try disabling auto stitching, and see if that helps you get to the result you’d like. You can see how to do that here:http://screencast.com/t/K6vSyG1MZyz

No, disabling auto stitching doesn’t solve the problem. I have the exact same issue, and I wish this ability to snap precisely to an edit point hadn’t been changed. Please consider changing it back.

I couldn’t see notes about it but the Logitech C920 Webcam now works with Camtasia 8.1 and did not with 8.0, did you also add some feature that suddenly makes this webcam now supported when it didn’t work in previous version? I never updated Logitech drivers, so trying to figure out if the actual software update for Camtasia now makes this great webcam work or something else may be the cause.
