Welcome to the new TechSmith blog!

We’re excited to bring four of our blogs under one roof…and are putting plans in place to bring you great content, from more TechSmithies, on a more frequent basis. Delivering daily servings of fresh content is a tall order, but we think you deserve it!

Details

We merged four different TechSmith blogs, and brought over their existing content: Visual Lounge, TechSmith education community, Jing, and Screencast.com. You will find that the new blog is structured around six topic types (categories), instead of around products. You can use the top navigation to visit each category and you can subscribe to one, two, or all of them! If you are looking for specific posts or content, then you can search by tags or use the search box (located in the upper right hand corner, under the navigation bar).

  • Customer Stories – In this category we will highlight user stories and show how they are using technology and software. Subscribe to Customer Stories.
  • For Educators – This category will concentrate on information that is pertinent to educators, administrators, technology coordinators, etc… This will include subjects such as technology, software, and flipped classroom. Subscribe to content For Educators.
  • Inside TechSmith – We want to give you a sneak peek into the culture and people who make things happen around here! This category will feature employees, fun events & happenings, along with some DevCorner technical posts. Subscribe to Inside TechSmith.
  • News & Events – Subscribe to this category if you want to know when our people are out and about, what shows we will attend, and what events we are hosting. This is also the place where we will announce new product releases and other important product news. Subscribe to News and Events.
  • The Forge – TechSmith has a web show called “The Forge” and it will provide you with great information—all about screencasting! We will post schedules, live feeds of The Forge, and videos of past shows just in case you can’t tune in live. Subscribe to The Forge.
  • Tips & How To’s – Here you will find advice including tips, tricks, and workarounds for our products and services. Subscribe to Tips and How To’s.
  • Want it all? Subscribe to all blog feeds.
  • Prefer delivery via email? You may subscribe via email to have posts sent directly to your inbox. Use the sign-up box in the right navigation column. This option subscribes you to the category page you are on at the time, and will subscribe you to all categories if you are on the “All Blogs” page.

Suggestions?

We want to thank you for your patience while we were under construction. We sincerely hope it was worth it, and that the changes will make our blog experience more valuable and streamlined for you! We always welcome feedback, so please comment below if you have thoughts or suggestions about our blog experience.

Hi Courtney. Do you, Carla and Jill work at TechSmith? Just wondering…

Newbie here. I don’t know this is the right place to post. I need help to trouble shoot this challenge. I kept getting this message when I tried to record the clip: “The clip may not produce correctly”. I followed “Record at Standard or Widescreen Dimension”

I only use the Snag It tool and would welcome a filtered blog for tips and instructional videos so I don’t have to wade through so much other content.

You can go to this page to check out posts based on their tags. From there, click on Snagit to see the posts that are relevant to you!

Thank you for your feedback on the blog! We hoped that tags would help out with this problem, but we haven’t gotten the tags to show up where we want them quite yet. In the meantime, you can use this link to view Snagit only posts:

Thanks for your patience as we continue to refine the look of our new blog!

I do not like the layout or format of this new blog. Before I could find a specific blog, like Jing or Camtasia really quick. Now I have to wade through a pile of posts to try and find content on the subjects I want. This new format is not user friendly.

Thank you for your feedback, we love hearing it…good or bad! Try using tags for now, and we will see what we can do about getting products to be more prominent.

Update: We have added a way to filter by product on the blog homepage. Thanks to everyone for making the suggestion!

I’d like to make a CSS suggestion.

      .singular #content, .left-sidebar.singular #content { margin: 0 7.6%; position: relative; width: auto;}

If you change the margin to 0 7.61% you will fix an issue I am experiencing in Firefox for the comment area.

If I move my browser window width slowly, I can see the right side of the iframe get cut off by one pixel. It will appear and reappear as I change the size of the window. So 50% of the time, the area looks cut off just enough to look a bit broken. In my quick testing changing the margin to what I suggested fixes the issue. See my attachment for an example.

There are other ways it could be adjusted as well, but without looking at everything in your responsive layout, this would be the quickest fix I see.

The site looks great by the way.

Wow, thanks for the specific suggestion (and a screenshot!)…I forwarded it on to the TechSmith designer who’s making all the magic happen inside WordPress.

Bummer indeed…sorry about that! At which point did you get a 404? Can you reach this page?

Error 404 when I click the “Get TechSmith Blogs – Tips & How To’s delivered by email”. Also get Error 404 when I click the link in your reply, Daniel.

Hm…is is possible you’re being filtered? I am able to click through to that page without trouble here. Maybe try it from a different machine or location?
