Creating Advanced Animated Callouts in Camtasia Studio 8

Two of the new features added in CS 8 were animations and grouping. These can be combined with transitions to create some cool animated callout effects. This promotional video from the release (3:53), created by product manager Shane Lovellette, makes nice use of these.

In this screencast, I’ll show how the animated callouts in the video were created, along with a few other examples:

This is really nice feature that added in CS 8 .it is advance technology to create a animated profile or application.

This is meant as constructive advice. The purpose of a how to video is to show us HOW TO actually create these animations, not commentate on the results… and this one shakes, and this one scales in… yes we see that. In addition, a POP filter with a decent mic would be a good addition to your set-up. I’m not critical of home produced videos, but you’re the makers of this software so all of your marketing pieces should be nearly flawless examples for your customers to shoot for.

I found myself getting distracted by the constant “bumping” noises from you either hitting the desk with your hand or bumping the mic. Whatever you did, the sound on this video was horrible and makes it nearly impossible to sit and listen to your video.

I agree with Jerry – you did nothing as far as showing us how you put the complex pieces together. (i.e. where you placed the the slider on the timeline, what you set in the animation window (percentage and size, etc.) to bring us to fully understand how you resulted with the pieces showing on the screen.

This video comes off as “bragging” – see what I can do versus “here’s how you can make the same thing by doing step 1, step 2, step 3″ – I still don’t know how you did this and wasn’t that the point of making a video? To teach others?
