Are you a Gmail user? If so, this post is for you! Google has recently made a change to your Gmail inbox that sorts messages into tabs: Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates and Forums. Based on Google’s criteria, this means any emails sent to you by companies like TechSmith will automatically be placed under the Promotions tab, unless you make some adjustments.
I am an avid Gmail user, but I can tell you the first time I logged into my account after the addition of the Gmail tabs I did not initially notice them, which means I was missing the emails under those tabs.
As you hopefully know, TechSmith is all about providing tools that help people communicate with images and videos. Today we want to make sure you don’t miss out on any email communications you have chosen to receive, including those from TechSmith.
First and foremost we wanted to make sure you are aware of Gmail tabs so you know where to look.
And secondly, we wanted to provide a few tips on how you can change the way Gmail sorts your mail to make sure you never miss an email from companies you really care about.
Check out this short video from the Social Media Examiner’s own Michael Stelzner ( a social media guru we respect and follow) to learn how to make changes.
One additional step you might want to consider is to tell Google which senders you trust, or whitelist them, to ensure you are receiving emails from those companies you want to hear from. You can do this by going into your spam folder, right clicking on an email you deem trustworthy, and then selecting ‘not spam’.
We hope you found this information useful and don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
