Snagit Help My Capture: How Do I Make a Perfect Circle Selection?

We’ve been asked by several readers “How in the *&^%$# do you make a precise circle selection??!!”

The circle selection might be one of the more confusing and frustrating features since it isn’t readily apparent where you begin your selection on the canvas. It seems no matter where you begin your capture, the area you want seems out of reach!

In this video tutorial, I will show you how to create a precise, foolproof circle selection that will not only fascinate and amaze your friends and coworkers – it will totally alleviate your circle selection frustrations!

Many thanks! I feel so very wise about circle crops now!

    Great demo/tutorial Kelly – thanks!

Thanks for the demonstration. Here’s a tweak that might help confine the selection to a more precise circle. Start the drag/draw, and then hold the Shift key while you complete the selection.

Hmmm…”perfect” – therein lies the rub. In both cases you show, there’s a circle already present as a guide to building your square. Only in the last case when you were winging it without a square aligned on the preexisting circles did you have a less than perfect circle.

So it’s still a “cut and try” process.

    Cheers!

Kelly, nice tutorial. But think of people with hearing problems: Pleae do not play music in the background whilst explaning your tricks. Thanks

That was indeed a nice tutorial, Kelly! The remarks above still stand though: the background music should be softer, and your own voice, louder.

Also, the “line” you keep referring to is called a “tangent” :-) Just a bit of grammar nazism.
