Time Saver Tuesday – Snagit Quick Styles

I don’t often set New Year resolutions, but this year I’m going to try to stick with one. And, that is to bring you a weekly Time Saver Tuesday tip. It might be a tip to show you a feature in one of our products that could save you time or a general tip about screencasting, presenting, audio or similar topics. And, I’d like your help. I’m a creature of habit. For instance, every morning, I start my day by stumbling out of bed and heading to the coffee maker. I’m a better person with coffee! :-) And, the same is true in Snagit – I have favorite arrows, callouts and other special effects I like to use over and over again.

You can save time in Snagit and easily save the objects you routinely use in the Gallery. First, create the object you want to save, like an arrow, callout, shape, text box, pen object, or highlight color. Set the color, shadow, width, etc. of the object.

Note: For callouts and text boxes, the text itself is not saved – but the font properties are.

Right-click the object and choose Add to Quick Styles.

Then your object is added to the bottom of the Gallery and is ready to use.

    great tip Betsy! One of the things I like in Snagit is the batch image editor, which as far as I can tell is only accessible through Windows Explorer right clicking on an image or several

    Yes, I use this a lot. Only one problem. Many times when I save the new qstyle it appears in the drop down. But the next day when I restart it’s no longer there. Do you know what that’s about?

    Wow, I didn’t realise you could save quickstyles for any object in Snagit; I only knew you could save profiles for screencapture. Snagit is amazing; in fact, it’s the Microsoft Office of screenshots! The only thing it still needs is the ability to capture Aero transparency in screenshots … that’s the one thing I want. Surely that couldn’t be too hard ;)

    This is a great feature, but is there a way that I can send these custom Quick Styles to another user?
    I’ve created various custom callouts that I’d like everyone in our team to use.
