Camtasia Studio 8.1: Using Crop Mode to Create a Pop-out Effect

The addition of crop mode in Camtasia Studio 8.1 has made some pretty cool, not to mention useful, effects possible. One that I’m really excited about is this pop-out effect:

It’s a great way to keep the ‘bigger picture’ context while focusing on a specific part of your screen.

It definitely comes in handy when I’m editing video tutorials. There have been a few times when I’ve tried to zoom in to show an adjustment in the Visual Properties tab, but lost the context of what’s happening on the canvas in the process.

But now, I can use crop mode and some animations to zoom in on the properties menu, while keeping the entire affected area in view.

To learn how to achieve this effect for yourself, check out this off-the-cuff video:

That is incredibly helpful Leanne! Well done. I’ve been really appreciating the cropping feature but hadn’t thought of this very useful & creative application of it. Thank you!
