The New TechSmith Blog!

Things keep on moving forward here at TechSmith. If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you may have noticed our new fresh coat of paint we’ve put on the blog. Since our last update was over two years ago, we felt it was time to not only spruce up the way it works, but provide some improved features that will help you be able to find what you’re looking for and want to read about.

First and foremost, we want to make sure that the content that is important isn’t just getting lost days or, sometimes, minutes after it’s posted. This led us to provide featured posts right at the top (1). We’ll be using this space for important announcements, key events, and other posts that deserve some attention. Below the top posts, the newest post gets a highlighted large spot (2). On the right, we have a new customer stories section (3). This section will highlight how customers, like you, are using TechSmith products and solutions.

If you’re not keen to click on the section links at the top of the blog (4), you can now just keep scrolling and get the newest items in each section. These are just two ways to navigate the blog though.

Search new blog 2014

The search is working better than ever (5), and should allow you to find content easily. You can also search posts by product, so if you’re looking for posts just relating to Camtasia or Snagit, use the drop down at the top right in the headerProduct dropdown.

In addition you can also find posts related to specific tags. Let’s say you’re reading one of our new DevCorner posts and want to see what else our designers and developers have written about, you can search by the tag or use a URL to go directly to all posts with that tag.

Use the URL Just replace dev-corner with a tag you’re looking for more posts on.

Once you find what you’re looking for, or just really like, we’ve added social sharing at the edge of the page. Share away on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, email, and more. And, if you haven’t already, we highly suggest subscribing to the blog and never miss another post. You can use RSS (that’s still a thing) or by email, which we recommend for the best experience.

If you’re like me, I find that I read more and more on my phone than at my computer. When I’m waiting in lines, waiting to pick-up the kids from activities, or during other downtime. The blog is now responsive and will adjust to your reading experience. So whether you’re on your computer, tablet or phone, the blog will be better suited for your device.

You might see a little funkiness with the thumbnails still as you explore the blog, we’re still in the process of cleaning everything up from the transition. There are a few newly-implemented standards that will be great visually going forward, but some of our content from the past didn’t meet the same standards (hence the thumbnail weirdness). If you happen to come across other strangeness with the new layout, let us know. We’re committed to continuing to provide information about the products, customer examples and stories, and other information that will help you be successful.

A huge thanks to Brian Krogsgard and Sara Cannon from, who helped us with the redesign. These guys know WordPress and how to make it sing and dance.
